Aggressive/Bad Behaviour

If your dog has aggressive tendencies please tell me when booking in. Dogs that require muzzling or extra help to manage them will be charged at a higher than standard grooming rate. This is because dogs showing acute nervousness or aggression take much longer to groom properly. I reserve the right to refuse a dog that presents a risk of injury to itself, staff or other dogs. Whilst grooming, if the dog shows aggressive behaviour which may put me in danger, I have the right to refuse to do them. No matter how little grooming I have managed to do a partial charge will still apply. Muzzles are only used as a very last resort, but will be used if necessary. Sometimes they are needed for the dog’s safety, especially if they are trying to bite the equipment.

Matted Dogs

Removal of minor knots and tangles are included in the grooming prices stated on the Services page. I abide by the Animal Welfare Act 2006 section 5 where it states that 'All animals are to be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease'. Unfortunately some pets do get matted due to their lifestyle, and whilst we offer grooming and styling for most dogs we are not able to work miracles on some matted dogs. It is also very painful and stressful for animals who are matted to be put through the process of trying to comb out matts and tangles, and therefore the right is reserved for us to either decline a matted pet for grooming or offer a clip off service only. If you agree to the clip off service the dogs coat will be very short, but will grow back quickly, and with regular grooming the coat will hopefully remain matt free. I will always contact you before taking this route to ensure you accept this procedure. However, if you refuse then I will be unable to continue the groom and you will need to pay a partial groom charge depending on how much work has already been carried out.


Please note that if you choose to go ahead with the humane clipping off there will be an extra charge due to the abnormal wear and tear on equipment of between £3 - £10. In the event of the dog requiring a shave down due to a matted coat, you should be aware that irritation may occur from the shaving process, as well as uncovering nicks, scabs, cuts, fungal & bacterial issues, maggots or pre-existing irritation. You agree that we will not be held liable for any after-grooming effects of matt clipping procedures or problems uncovered on a matted/neglected coat which could include, but are not limited to the following: itchiness, skin redness or self inflicted irritations/abrasions from excessive external rubbing.

 

Photographs

By using my services, you agree to photographs of your dog being placed into our advertising media (such as Facebook, website or other forms of advertising). If you object to this, can you please confirm that fact to me in writing.

 

Allergies

If your dog suffers from a skin allergy we ask you to provide us with a veterinary prescribed shampoo. Otherwise, we will use our own range of specialist hypoallergenic products.

Appointments

Please arrive on time for your appointment. If you are very early you may be asked to wait until your appointment time before being seen. If you are late arriving for your appointment you may have to be rebooked for another time as I won’t be able to complete the groom in the time left. If you are excessively late collecting your dog after notification that he/she is ready to go home a holding fee may apply.

 

Cancellations

We require as much notice as possible, at least 24 hours, for cancellation of appointments as time is specifically reserved to groom your dog. Missed appointment fees may be charged if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice or if you do not attend your appointment. Please ensure all appointments are adhered to, but if something unplanned and unavoidable does occur then please give as much advance notice as possible. We always strive to be fair and understanding, but we do have to consider our other customers’ needs as well, especially at busy periods such as during December and in the summer holidays.

Deposits

Time is reserved to groom your dog, and not turning up without letting me know beforehand is incredibly inconvenient. I have a waiting list of people wanting appointments and it is often too late to fill the slot.

 

Therefore ALL NEW CUSTOMERS will now be required to pay a £10 deposit to secure their booking. This must be paid within 24 hours of making the appointment, either in person with cash or online by card, otherwise it will be released to other customers. The deposit is non-refundable if cancelled within 48 hours of the appointment.

 

Bitches in Season/Pregnant Bitches

If your bitch comes into season when due for her grooming appointment please let me know as soon as possible. Having a bitch in season in the salon can unsettle other dogs coming in afterwards, making grooming them more difficult. Therefore it will be necessary to reschedule your appointment. It's not recommended to groom pregnant bitches as any level of stress may lead to the absorption of the puppies. It's best to get the bitch groomed before she is mated.

 

Toileting

Although accidents can’t be helped, please ensure that all dogs are adequately walked and toileted before arrival. PLEASE DO NOT let your male dog cock his leg up anything inside the salon.

 

Puppy Sessions

The puppy introductory and full grooms that I offer are only for dogs younger than 6 months, and the puppy must have been fully vaccinated and cleared by the vet to go out.

 

Payments

Payment can be made by cash or debit/credit card. I do not accept cheques under any circumstances.

 

Fleas

Please note: I no longer groom dogs with fleas. The salon is based in my house and I do not want my house and my dog getting infested with fleas. If your dog has fleas, or you suspect they may have fleas, please let me know when making your appointment. It is a huge inconvenience for me if you elect to withhold this information because we have to perform a thorough deep clean of the salon, towels and bedding when your dog has left. This can then have a knock-on effect with the appointments for the rest of the day. If fleas are found on your dog you will be required to come and collect them no matter at what stage of the grooming process I am at, and pay a partial groom charge depending on how much work has already taken place. I won’t be able to groom your dog again until all the fleas have gone.
